Residency & Minnesota Hockey Waivers *New
MINNESOTA HOCKEY PARTICIPATION POLICY
Minnesota Hockey Participation Policy states that players participate in their local association based on residency. To participate with RYHA, residency must be within the Rogers High School attendance boundaries OR the player must have obtained a Minnesota Hockey school attendance waiver or Minnesota Hockey annual waiver.
School attendance waivers
School attendance waivers are requested from the home association and approved by RYHA and District 10. School waivers are also referred to as mandatory waivers because when the requirements set forth in the Minnesota Hockey Rules & Regulations handbook based on participation are met, neither the releasing nor the accepting association can decline to approve the waiver. Unless conditions have been placed on the approved school waiver, or the player changes to a school outside the attendance boundaries, a new waiver is not required each year. Proof of school enrollment is required each year.
*Starting with the 24-25 season, Minnesota Hockey will no longer issue school/mandatory waivers for mite /U8 age players, and school waivers will only be issued for players who are age eligible for their first year of squirt/U10.
Annual waivers
Annual waivers also called discretionary waivers, are required if the player neither lives in nor attends a school within the Rogers High School attendance boundaries. These waivers are discretionary and must approved by the home association, RYHA, and District 10.
